You’re not doing nearly enough.

not doing social media

You put up a post on Facebook last week. Took you ages to think of what to post, even more time to find just the right image, and then you got stuck on the wording but eventually figured it out and put something up. Maybe a couple of people liked it, maybe nothing happened at all. Either way, you went back to what you were doing and maybe you’ll put another post up this week.

Sound familiar?

Should do. It’s what most people do. Over the last few weeks I’ve spoken to a dozen or so Hypnotherapists who all wanted to know how they could get more clients. They all claimed to be “doing” Adwords, Facebook, talks, open days etc, but no-one was actually “doing” it. What they meant was they had an account and had done a bit with it but it didn’t really work so they hadn’t done anything more with it.

Almost certainly you spend more time reading other people’s posts on Facebook than you do getting people to read your posts. Here’s the thing. If you’re not doing anything, you’re irrelevant. No one knows about you. Hoping someone is going to find you is clearly not going to happen. It’s up to you to tell people you exist.

So many of you reading this are just dabbling. Making an attempt at marketing. You’re not actually doing it. One post on Facebook a week isn’t going to cut it. You need to be putting up 4, 5, 7 posts per day. Get on Instagram, and get 3 or 4 posts per day up there as well, plus daily Instagram and Facebook Stories. And then add blogs, articles, Adwords, talks, influencers, partners, podcasts, email, live video, group sessions and so on, and so on.

There’s a whole world out there waiting for you. They just don’t know you exist. It’s up to you to change that.
